Prosthesis (Joint Replacement)
A prosthesis is the replacement of the joint by a synthetic piece, through an intervention surgical. It is an implant that is placed in the damaged structure and substitutes its function, allowing the patient to move the joint again, eliminating any pain that may have. During the intervention removes damaged bone and cartilage. The most common reason for a prosthesis to be placed is because of wear and tear (osteoarthritis), that is damaging the joint. But also some fractures in which there is great bone damage subchondral or certain tumors or infections that require an implant or prosthesis.


Arthroscopy
Arthroscopy is a procedure to diagnose and treat joint problems. A surgeon
inserts a scope connected to a fiber optic video camera through a small
incision. The image inside the joint is transmitted to a High Definition Screen.
The surgeon can even repair certain types of damage through the use of instruments.
